Air India Security Software Contract Scam – Aviation Minister was bribed $250000 in 2007 – Middleman Nazir Karigar was found guilty in Canadian Court

  • Nazir Karigar, a Canadian consultant, admitted that in May 2007 he had bribed the then Aviation Minister and Air India Officials
  • This was for Cryptometics Canada, a tech. co., to get a $100 million security facial recognition software contract from Air India
  • Karigar admitted bribing $250,000 to Civil Aviation Minister and $200,000 to Air India Officials in 2007
  • Nazir Karigar was found guilty and sentenced to 3 year imprisonment in May 2014 by the Superior Court of Canada Judge
  • According to the Canadian Court’s report of 2013, discussion on more bribe for the Minister and AI Officials was also done by other middleman employed by Cryptometrics in November 2007 to finalize the deal
  • Dr. Kirit Somaiya has written to the PMO, CBI director, Enforcement Directorate, MOS Aviation and Air India Chairman to investigate this
